A Timeless Romance at The Artisan Galveston | Julie & Matthew

There’s something truly special about a wedding that seamlessly blends history with modern elegance, and Julie and Matthew’s recent celebration at The Artisan in Old Town Galveston was exactly that. As a Houston wedding photographer, I’ve seen many venues, but The Artisan holds a unique charm that perfectly complemented this beautiful couple.

Steeped in history, The Artisan, originally the Island City Woodworking mill built in 1908, is more than just a venue; it’s a testament to Galveston’s rich past as a bustling port town and a hub for artists and artisans of all kinds. The thoughtful remodel has preserved its historic soul—from the original brickwork of the outdoor ceremony space to the warm, intricate woodwork inside—while infusing it with contemporary sophistication. It’s a place where old stories meet new beginnings, and it was the perfect backdrop for Julie and Matthew’s love story.

The day itself was a dream. Julie was absolutely radiant in her elegant white strapless mermaid-style gown, completed with a flowing long veil that added a touch of classic romance. Matthew was the picture of sophistication in a classic black tux and black bow tie. Their ceremony, set against The Artisan’s rustic brick wall, felt intimate and timeless.

The reception space was transformed into a celebration of their unique style, featuring a stunning black and white checkered dance floor that invited guests to celebrate late into the night. And for the reception, Julie made a show-stopping change into a gorgeous backless halter dress adorned with beads and pearls—a truly stunning detail that added another layer of glamour to the evening.

It was an honor to capture every heartfelt moment, every laugh, and every dance move for Julie and Matthew. Their wedding day at The Artisan was a beautiful reflection of their love: classic, elegant, and filled with joyful energy.
