Houston Arboretum Engagement Photos | Erika & Robert

Meet Erika & Robert! They recently got engaged and are planning their wedding for 2022. As some of the photos show, they are literally a ray of sunshine together. They are playful, easy-going, and super easy to work with. I had a blast with them at Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens. It’s such a beautiful place located a little north of Houston. Below are a few questions they answered to get to know a little more about their love story. Aren’t they the cutest together?! I can’t wait to see how their love story unfolds.

What is your proposal story?

“So, it was Memorial Day weekend (Sunday), and Robert and I decide to go grab some ice cream and head over to our favorite park, Centennial Gardens (here in Houston). We arrived and started walking in. Two to three minutes after walking into the gardens there was an announcement that the park was closing in five minutes, so we decided to head out through the back entrance. We crossed the street and kept walking towards a fountain and sat down. Robert then asked me for a quarter, I answered “let me check my bag I may have a quarter in here somewhere”, I start looking through my bag and I find a quarter to hand to him. We keep talking, and he’s just sitting there waiting and asks “well where’s your quarter?” and I said “oh, I didn’t know I needed a quarter too” and laughed. I looked in my bag for another quarter and find one and Robert says “okay, let’s make a wish”. We throw the quarters in the fountain and make our wishes. He then proceeds to ask me “well what did you wish for?” and I answered, “I can’t tell you if not it’s not going to come true”. Robert responded, “well I’ll tell you what I wished for, I wish for a long, healthy, and prosperous marriage with you”. He pulled out a ring from his pocket and asked me if I wanted to marry him. Of course, I said yes as I proceeded to cry tears of joy for the next 10 minutes. I then told him what I had wished for, which was to spend the rest of my life with him and I just think that it made our engagement so much better to have wished for the same thing.”

What is your favorite part about being engaged?

Robert’s response: “My favorite part of being engaged is being engaged. I have the ability to call Erika my fiancé and honestly, nothing changed because in my heart I’ve always known that I would marry her.”
Erika’s response: “My favorite part of being engaged is knowing that in a little over a year I’m going to marry my best friend and spend the rest of my life with him! The wedding planning is just a plus!”

What advice do you have for other couples planning a wedding?

Robert’s response: “Don’t be too picky, see multiple vendors and venues, and don’t rush. Take your time to get some money together to have a nice wedding.”
Erika’s response: “I think one of the big things I would recommend to other couples planning a wedding is to learn how to compromise. There are always things you will dislike and your fiancé will dislike but be willing to compromise because all that matters is that the two of you will be getting married and that’s all it comes down to.”
